740 seats in 164? (must have been answered before, but search failed) 140-160 1973

I'm sure this was asked before, but I get frustrated by the search "feature"...

I've got a 1973 164 that is deregistered and in need of important things like seats. On a local auction site, I came across a full set of 740 series leather seats even with a driver seat heater. Does anyone know if it is easy to fit them to an early 164? The 164 has both sliding and hight adjustable front seats, guess the hight adjuster would have to be cut out. From memory the rails are spaced differently, but maybe there is enough space on the seat base to fit the 164 rails?

I'm not interested in fitting the 740 rails on top of the 164 rails or anything crazy like that, it will not be allowed for re-registration of the car.
