940 climate control 900 1994

Dear rjritterjr,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. The issue with the solder joints in the climate control unit, is that they can fail because of a microscopic crack. Thus, in the original unit - or the refurbished unit - if each of the four contacts between the relay and the circuit board was not re-flowed, the problem could persist. Equally, the 12 pints of the main connector and the circuit board also should be re-flowed.

To reflow the solder, use a max 25-watt iron. Let the iron heat up. Touch the tip to the solder joint for 1-2 seconds. As soon as the solder liquefies, remove the soldering iron tip.

Do not try to figure out which pin has the micro-crack. Do them all. I'd guess this will solve the problem. New/refurbished parts have been known to be faulty.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
