Alt Question on a 86 245DL 200

Still working on a Alt No Charge issue. When the small red wire that goes to the dash light is attached to the Alt, there is no Alt light when the switch is turned on. And here is the good part, no Oil Pressure Light. Take the wire loose on the Alt and the oil pressure light works. Checked from the terminal to the chassis of the Alt and there is less than 1 ohm of resistance. The chassis of the Alt is grounded to the motor.

Could a bad internal voltage regulator cause this? Going to pull it in the morning and see if the connection to Gnd goes away. Found one at an auto parts store but before I drop $21 wanted to see if there were any other things to try.

If that does not work it may be time to buy the rebuilt 80 Amp on the shelf down at Bap Geon.

Regards,
PLT

Oh yes, 1986 245 DL AKA Inga. Bosch 70 amp rebuilt Alt. New wiring down the right side firewall and fender that replaces the crap wiring from Volvo.
