buying another volvo??? 900 1993

My daughter recently got her license and wants to buy a volvo from a local dealer. It is a 1993, 960 sedan. He says that the previous owner hit something on the interstate and he had to replace the motor mount and the transmission mount. He says that the car has a "shudder" on take off and that he thinks it probably just needs to be aligned. It also has issues with the gas gauge and the temperature gauge. Both seem to function fine most of the time but sometimes the gas gauge reads empty when there is gas and sometimes the temperature gauge indicates that the engine is hot when it is, in fact, not overheating. It is his feeling that both of these issues are something that could be easily repaired, probably with a relay or a switch or something. The car has good tires, 103,000 miles, and the body is in fair shape. I currently own a 1992 240 which has close to 200,000 miles on it, the speedometer is stuck at 38mph and the car seems to be stuck in OD even though the light is not lit. The relay has been replaced and a blown fuse was also replaced. The question is...for $1,600, which is the price he is offering the car at...is this a fair deal? Thanks for your help.
