Manual trans shifter adjustment? 700 1986

Are there some adjustments in the shift linkage on an M46 transmissions? see FAQ

My car is becoming very hard to get into first gear. Since I have a hydraulic clutch, no adjustment there. Overall the gearbox is feeling a bit "notchy". Fluid was changed about 14,000 miles ago. Plain Type F.

May have to replace clutch. But wondered if there is some way the shifter can be adjusted to improved. Never seems to slip on hills.

Has about 228K.

Thanks in advance

Mike
