trouble advancing gears 200 1989

Recently I've noticed that my automatic 240 wagon is having trouble advancing gears, particularly 3rd to 4th, and 4th to 5th. It eventually gets there, but it seems to be revving pretty high to do so. does anyone know what I should do? Money is definitely a factor!! I don't have much of it to spare right now :) Thanks in advance.
