If you want to get creative, you can remove the bushings pretty easily by removing the center metal tube either with a torch or hacksaw, and then use a hacksaw to cut through the outer metal shell from the inside out. Then the bushing will come out with a few taps from a hammer.

Re-installation of the bushings is usually easier than removal, because bushings get stuck in there after so long, and because size of the drive tool is less critical on install.

So, I have installed bushings using a bottle jack, which is pretty cheap. If you have 2 opposing concrete walls, you can do this. (If you have a basement with a bulkhead, the walls along the steps would be good)

Just lay the bottle jack on it's side between the 2 walls, use solid cinder blocks for spacers, and an assortment of wood pieces to support the trailing arm. Find something to drive the bushing, and you are all set.
