Removing Recaro Headrests? (240 GL) 200

Just wondering if anybody on the board might have Recaro seats in their brick? If so, do you know how to remove the headrests? (These are the headrests with two rods, and the rods have 3-4 notches cut in them). It looks like they should just come straight out, but I couldn't get them--and I pulled till I thought I was going to need a truss!
