b21a wiring battery light continued 200 1981

idiot light glows brightly with key out, shuts off when key is in II position.

I switched the oil pressure and alternator regulator wires, which sent power as if the key was in II position (no key in).

this all started from a too small battery getting slammed around due to terrible suspension and no hold down bolt. acid all over the tray, and idiot light appears. no other changes. If I left the negative cable on the battery drains. I'm disconnecting it when I park.

I would run new wire from the voltage regulator and the large red wire - where do they go? they disappear under the block. I have a new wire run from the ballast resistor to the coil, which stopped a "keep running with key out" condition.

Any thoughts from b21a pilots appreciated.
