clutch cable disaster 200

I was attempting to figure out how to put a clutch return spring on today and had the part where you adjust the cable pull through the what ever its called/ the hole thing near the arm. The clutch is now useless.

Do I just need to replace the whole cable or is there another part to replace? I have a M46 1986 244. How does a spring attatch to the underside of the car. I found a little hole on the bracket thing that holds up the transmission but it seem like it was a bit too far away and also the cause of pulling the cable out. Thanks.

Would that be the reason the clutch wouldn't stay adjusted as well?
