My wagon gets smacked, blinkers fire constantly?

A perfectly honest and completely uninsured guy backed into the driver's door of my '95 V8-powered 960 yesterday at a gas station (estimate: $2900 :( Argh. So this is why I pay for uninsured motorist coverage...
Apart from the annoying fact that I can't open the door from the outside, a strange result is that from the moment of impact, the hazard/turn signals get full power constantly, such that the turn stalk or hazard swtiches obviously don't work, the indicators in the dash are both lit, and remain so even with the key removed. Now I have to pull the battery cable every time I park the car so the battery won't die...
Any ideas? A relay in the door? Strange.
Many thanks!
