Exhaust Leak 200 1986

Hi All,

I'm new to the board and have a question about a 1986 244DL I just purchased. I've searched the FAQ's and couldn't find the info. The car developed a very loud and apparent exhaust leak at the exhaust flange between the manifold and the header pipe. I took the pipe down to replace the gasket to find it caked with some sort of bondo/sealent on both sides of the joint.

I cleaned both surfaces well and replaced the gasket. I still have a minor leak that is quite annoying, but nothing compared to the way it was before. My question is, is there a possibility of doubling up the gaskets if either surface is warped, or is there any other fix or recommendation for this issue.

Any feedback would be great, and thanks for taking the time to read this.
