clutch issues 200

I replaced my M47 and all related parts (Clutch, cable, fork, etc) recently. After 2000 miles the clutch pedal didn't completely return to the top. I adjusted the cable so the pedal was back to it's original height. On the test drive the pedal starting staying on the floor. It will return if I physically pull it up. There was not a return spring on it so I didn't put a new one on. After further research it appears that they all had return springs. I'm trying to put one on but I can't find where the other end goes. I have 3 manuals and they all show it attaching to the fork but not the other end. I read in another post that it attached to the mount but that is too far away. Please tell me that this will be fixed by installing the spring and/or cable adjustments and it's not a problem internally. Thanks.
