Well my oil pressure light is still popping on and it is coming on faster and faster. When you let off the gas the light pops on and stays on and this is when the oil pressure should go up not down. Stop the Engine and restart and the light goes out as soon a the engine starts. At least until the next time you let off the gas that is. Inga has a new Alt (was 55 amps, now 80 amps), new wires going to the Alt, Oil Pressure, Starter and Eng Temp. Also did an oil change Wednesday night. Never had this problem until Thursday night. Oil Level is good , used Exxon 10/40 like always for spring. No leaks other than a slow one on the top cap on the valve cover.
Inga did sit up for over two years and is just getting back on the road. Installed a new sending unit last night and the light now comes on even faster. This is a rerouted wire spliced direct the connector that was chopped out. Wire is routed with the alt wire down the passenger side fire wall. Wire is in a plastic tube from the firewall to the Alt. Going to make sure that nothing is pinched on the wire in a little while but this does not act like a pinched wire becaue of how consistanly the wire comes on.
One more side note that I belive to be unrelated but lets toss it out there is the new Alt puts out 14.35 volts instead of the 13.8 that is normal on any alt I have ever checked.
I have ordered from Volvo a new connector yesterday(less that $5)and it is Due in on Tuesday, but this is not a connector to sensor issue (at least I don't think it is). But the connector on there now is from pick ur parts and was not much better that the one that was on Inga that fell apart.
Where to look next, drop the oil pan and check the pump? Is there some way to measure oil pressure?
All help is appricated, meanwhile Inga is parked until more is known. Burning up an engine is not an option.
Regards,
PT
