96 960 Fuel Gauge Indicator Failure 900

1996 960 270K. Ran over a pre-struck, dead deer. Dark morning. Expressway. Speed 75mph. The fuel gauge read slightly above full; it is stuck in that position regardless of fullness of tank. I've observed no pulled or broken wires. No blown fuses--just lots-o-deer by-product. Anyone have some insight on how I may trouble-shoot this problem to a solution?
