Heat problems with delay switch? 200 1980

I have a strange one for you. The other day it was a warm day and the car got hot sitting in the sun. Well, after a long hot day, I start up the car and the fan and the radio don't work. After the car cools down, they start working! I've experienced this before and suspect that it has something to do with the delay relay. I presume that it delays the fan and radio from turning on until the car is started, but in this case the heat must affect it and it does not work until it cools down. I've checked the fuses and wiggled them back and forth just to make sure, but only cooling down the cabin gets everything working again.

Anybody experience this or have any ideas on what may be going on?
1980 volvo 4 door, 4 cylinder, 240 GL.

Thanks, Mike
