leaves and junk in cowl vents 200 1990

OK, so my '90 245 has been parked for a while - like three years. Number one son gets his driving license in September, so it's time to get it going again. It ran fine when it was parked, but wouldn't pass emissions, so this won't be a huge job.

The plan to replace all fluids (including gasoline), the battery, maybe new brake rotors (they rusted from sitting), and then attack the emissions problem.

First task is to clean out all the dead bugs and junk. The cowl vents are full of small flower petals and leaves from the trees along my driveway. What's the best way to get this stuff out? If I just flush it out, it'll just run down into the rocker panels and clog up the drains. Any way to get into the cowl or rockers to get the junk out?

Thanks!
