Most of my dealings on Volvos and Volvo parts have been very satisfactory.
But there are a couple of caveats. According to the rules it is the seller's
responsibility to accurately describe his item. Some sellers put stuff on
ebay that they don't even have an identity for. Right now someone is trying
to sell an "unidentified Volvo Penta part". Gimme a break!
Sometimes when an item is wrongly or erroneously described I will try to
give the vendor some guidance just to keep him out of trouble. Sometimes
they take it the right way and sometimes I get a message back saying something
like "Get a life!"
On the other hand, you should not bid on an item if you don't know something
about it. Sometimes you can actually see the item if you start early enough.
(This is especially important if you bid on a car!)
If I were you I would post negative feedback against the backout bidder.
If he looked at all the pix (especially the engine compartment) he shoulda
known it didn't have power steering. My 145 doesn't seem to need it!
