temperory ignition switch bypass for coil 200

I have a friend who's car I have been maintaining (84 wagon) and it has died in an inconvienent place. I replaced the ignigion wiring harness a few weeks ago because it had a no apark condition. Now the problem has returned and I have determined that it is the power from the ignition switch that is the problem. I have procured an updated wiring harness as I knew his harness had problems, but I need to get it from point a to point b before I have time to replace the harness. Is is possible to jumper the coil directly to the battery temporarily to get it home and then disconnect it when we get there? I have looked at the wiring diagrams and there does not seem to be resistance on the ignition circuit.
