Adhesive type pin stripe removal 200 1992

Now that the resto-mod project on the Blue-Green Metallic 92 245 is nearing an end. Today, I started wet sanding, polishing, and waxing the original paint and came to the conclusion that it is in way too good a shape to have the car repainted.

Unfortunately, the po put down a white pin stripe all the way around the car that doesn't look right and it is missing in spots. Any good tricks to getting the old adhesive based pin stripe off... chemical, scraper(?).... So far, I've been using finger nails and buffing compound to remove it, the problem is that I'm half way into one fender and ran out of finger nails!

This is a basecoat clearcoat factory paint job and want to avoid scratching the crap out of it.

Ideas will be greatly appreciated as long as they don't include a die grinder!

Thanks!

jorrell
