Heated seats operation ? 700

How hot are the seats meant to get when the heater switches are turned on ?

My cars seat heater switch light turns on but i dont seem to notice the seats getting any hotter at all (maybe a tiny little but, but i think thats just my imagination) ?

Is there something i am overlooking here ?

I have leather seats on a 760 1985, will they start cracking if i get the seat heaters working ?
