Moving on - need advice

Well, I just looked up CR 1995 (I have most back issues for this very reason) and they rate the 940, 960 and 850 near the top along with Toyota and Honda. SO CR was on the money at that time. Since them, it is clear to me that Volvo has slipped on a relative basis in crash worthiness and reliability (which translates into a safety issue as well as cost and inconvenience). I agree with CR in recent issues that down rate the new Volvos. I say, either keep the older one in top shape so that you are safe and comfy, or get a new non-Volvo that suits your needs and pocketbook. I'd love to get a newer V70 and I can afford it but the reliability will have to approach Toyota and Honda before I would consider getting one. And Volvo will have to drop this silly and costly software upgrade requirement when parts get changed.
