wireing harness crumbling 700 1985

hello, I have a 85 740 gle with a 145k miles on it. The wireing harness is crumbling where the 4 wires ground to the intake manifold and also the wires on the plug that plugs into the back of the alternator. maybe other places that I can't see also. Has anyone had any luck repairing the harness or should I replace it. Is a new replacement available or do I look for a good used one. Does anyone know where I can get a good used one from.
