manual tranny fluid level and od engagement m-46 700 1985

m-46 guys.....

I noticed what appears to be fluid leak for back of od tranny case ( top two bolts) My question is will the od stop engaging when the fluid level is lower or will it continue to engage thereby making it tougher to tell if level is low?

hoping to get a window of time to fix and the severity of leak without having to put on blocks .

kind of like:

if od stops engaging that would mean time to get to it.

if continues to engage move that job to back burner until under there or on lift.

Thanks again
