No wisdom on the torch, but there is another option available. Find about a five or six foot length of thin-walled hose that has an outer diameter that matches the inner diameter of the drain hole. Stick a funnel in one end and have a helper pour fluid in while they hold it about even with the driver's side mirror. You get to lie under the car with the other end of the hose shoved into the drain hole (wrap a paper towel around it), and the bolt ready in your other hand. You have to be quick with the bolt, and it's a little messy regarless, but I used this method for years on an '82 that came with a rounded off fill bolt. If you get clear hose so you can see what's going on, and you raise your end up as soon as you pull it out of the tranny while your helper lowers their end down, it can be done with very little spillage. The extra fluid is easily drained back into its container. Make sure you have a few more quarts than you'll need--and be sure to get at least 2.5 quarts in there (3 is probably even better). On the '82, I drained my fluid and took the drain bolt with me to Home Depot to be sure on the size--sorry I can't recall what the diameter is. Good luck!
