1987 B230f intermediate shaft bearing

rebuild the 87 b230f I drove out the old bearing to hot tank the block. got new intermediate shaft bearing from FCP and put them in. as it turns out the middle bearing was too small. so I went to the dealership and ordered a new one. it was too small also. went back got another. Guess what... Also too small. the lead mecanic at the dealership told me that I was supposed to install the bearing then line bore them.

THAT MAKES NO SENSE. If you bore a bearing you remove the babbiting and it is no longer a bearing. The catalog that the dealership uses claim that the rear and mid bearing are the same but the bently manual calls out different ID specs.

Any suggestions????
