A/C problem S90-V90

Compressor stops working for a short time varies between a minute or sometimes several minutes. When running air temp down to 45 F. I’ve inserted a short at the low pressure switch and only the engine revs up a bit but the compressor remains off, turn the engine off for a couple of minutes and all works fine. Seems the something is overheating on the compressor control. Has anyone had anything like this.
Thanks
