Fixed my right front clunk! 700 1991

Today, we fixed my "clunk" in my right front wheel and strut area. As we suspected it was in fact a loose gland nut!

We jacked the car up, pulled the right wheel, then cut the tiewrap holding the strut boot. After raising the boot we tightened the gland nut about three turns after putting a little Locktight on the threads. We tried to use the gland nut tool but could not get it to work with the spring on and the stut still installed.

So we just used a set of channel locks and socked it up tight.
I'm thinking that we just did not get it tight enough, when we replaced the strut, about 3 months ago.

Thanks for all the advice. I really liked the suggestion about removing the bolts from the ball joint. I looked at that and went "Duh, why didn't I think of that?"

Nice to have a quet front end again.

Regards

Woody
