'97 965 headlight switch, why stock an extra switch? S90-V90 1997

Learned a few things during the recent replacement of my headlight switch.

1) Failed with no warning. Wife.sig sis 8-block drive w/o headlights OK, small loww of adrenaline. What about next time - on a freeway?

2) Now I have the tools and knowhow to do the replacement.

3) Largest user of time with the next failure will be the getting of the switch. Parts house is M-F, and 17 miles away.

SO - If there is a history of these switches failing, it would make sense to me to carry a spare one in the car, if the cost was not exorbitant.

Do you know if switch failure is a relatively frequent thing? This switch seems to be the came on the 1995-1998 960 and S/V90 cars, and on 850's, too.

Your comments and info will be appreciated.

Regards,

Bob
