Strange K-jet behaviour in the mountain 700 1989

Greetings everyone

My 89 740 with a B230E aka k-jet exhibited a peculiar idle up in the mountain during a recent trip. Upon reaching the top the idle went down to the point of stalling in N. If I engage the drive it'll die if I don't press the gas. Up at the top it was 3000m above sea level and was damp (it was foggy), temp was around 18-20 Celcius. I had to unscrew out the black idle screw to make the car driveable. It was only a few hours after reaching sea level did the idle came up but it was still lowish than usual. Now it's ok.

Any ideas what happened? I'm planning to make another trip up soon. Is the k-jet sensitive to cold or altitude or what?

Thanks for any insight.
