A/C compressor question 200 1986

A couple of years ago, I had my '86 240 retrofitted to the new R-134a system. I bought a compressor from eEuroparts and have had no problems until the past couple of weeks. When at idle, I notice a noise from the compressor when its clutch engages. It's not a screaming sound or a scraping sound but something subtle and in between them. When I'm driving, I don't notice it because of the road nosie. My question is can the front of the compressor where the clutch is be removed and lubricated with the compressor still on the car or is the entire unit sealed and attached to itself internally and unserviceable? I put a mirror in front of the compressor and it looked like there were about 4 or 5 nuts that attach the clutch to the face of the compressor if the air filter box were removed I'd be able to get to it.

Thanks guys........
