one fuel pump or two? 92 740 wagon nonturbo 700

Does my 92 740 wagon (non turbo) have one fuel pump or does it have the pre-pump in the tank and a main fuel pump outside the tank? Car is at a shop and the mechanic thinks it only has one fuel pump... which he is having a lot of trouble with. New pump works but he is still getting very low fuel pressure.

more info: Car stopped running, would crank but would not run. Mechanic changed the fuel pump and car ran for 2 weeks, then stopped with same symptoms, ie would crank but would not start at all. I thought it was the same problem all over again so same mechanic got the car back. He is working on it now.

He checked the fuel pump relay (and a few other things before changing the fuel pump). I actually changed the relay a couple of years ago which cured an intermittent stalling problem I was having at the time.
