Redline Synthetic Oil vs. Mobil 1 700

Had been using Redline oil, until Discount/Advance Auto quit stocking the oil. So I had Redline in the Volvo for about 12,000 miles. With no local source for Redline anymore, switched to Mobil 1. Now, if I understand correctly, Redline claims to use a different base stock than all the other synthetics. I think Redline uses polyol ester base stock, or POE, and the rest use PAG.

Since switching to Mobil 1, I have had a bit more of a problem with little oil leaks and consumption. Was wondering if the different base stocks and their relative compatability with the seal material used in the Volvo might be the cause of the (admittedly minor) problem.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?
