ECUs with problems

Based on a large sample size of one, the original 16-valve B234F 571 ECU's (green label) would seem just as problematic as the B230F 561's. I no longer have the car, but the carton says the replacement was a 0 0280000 571-850 (board rev 850?). Cracking open the replacement showed a redesign of the circuit board and components in the fuel pump relay driver section.

The 571's were only used in the introductory B234F model years (1988 in Europe and 1989 in North America). For the remaining production years (1990-1992) the 928 ECU was used [as noted at Bill Garland's Volvo Xref site]. I've never seen a complaint about the later ECU's.
