940 Speedometer gremlin

Well, I'm sure I have a good sensor. Did you get the same failure from a replacement speedo? I hate to think I got a bad speedo to replace the original. They seem to have the same symptoms. When these speedos fail, do they all act this way?

BTW, I traced the wires from the sensor to the little black junction box near the gas filler tube. I couldn't pry it open to check the connection there. Why would they put a juction box there when the same two wires enter and exit?

Seems like a strange place to put a juction box when nothing else actually joins the two wires in or out.

just my (confused) .02
