91 244 question? 200 1991

Looking at a 91 244 w/182k on it. Guy is selling it cheap as it dies occasionally. Restarts right away and he has sunk a ton of money and is giving up on it. He showed me that he found the fuel tank wire connections in poor shape and he disconnected them at the top of the tank. The 91 2series still has two pumps doesn't it. I'm thinking the thing starves for gas and dies on him. Tank cover is very rusty, not even any of the tab grips left that you use to unscrew the fuel pump from the tank. How would i get the old pump out to replace it? Car overall is in nice shape, starts right up, a slight searching at idle, goes up and down a little bit. Clean body, interior, all new brakes, rotors, amm, tires, lots of new parts.... TIA Tom 27940aholic 91 745t 249k
