clutch issues/bad math 200

Got this issue with my clutch. Basically, ever since I got a new clutch cable, I've had to adjust it about weekly, as it gets to where I can't disengage teh clutch. Last time I had work done, I told teh shop to also adjust the clutch, which they did and told me I needed a clutch *soon*... does that sound right?

My mind would tell me that if the clutch disc is wearing and near it's end, the adjustment would go out the other way, such that it would be slipping. My case is opposite.. not unlike the cable stretching a bit over a week...

Or maybe it's the pressure plate failing? In either case, I wan't to be sure I need a clutch before I spend the money... and I would like to understand why this would be happening...

If anyone can sort this out for my peace of mind, I'd sure appreciate it.
