How does this part come off? 120-130

I have a 67 123gt and have removed the rear end to refurbish all the bits and pieces. There are rubber mounts that sit above the coil springs inside a bell housing that sits inside a second larger bell housing. I have tried to unscrew the rubber mounts but they take a couple of turns and stick - I'm assuming there is a nut that holds them in place, but I cannot find any way to access the top of the enclosed bell housing. I've tried whacking the larger bell housing, but it is very solidly in place - either intentionally or incidentally after about 40 years in place. Does anyone have experience dislodging these reluctant rubber bullets? - Thanks
