960 tranny fluid level 900

I've just checked my transmission fluid level for the eighth time. I heard some whinning from down under and decided to investigate. Fluid color is good and no unpleasant smells but it appears over full. Now it's been 20,000 or so since a flush and like I said, the whine is only a few weeks old. Only thing new is what appears to be a rear main seal leak !? Not too much (a cup or so every 8-10 days).
Is one affecting the other? The dipstick is telling me it is quite over full at HOT. The wife's taking the truck tomorrow and I ride a motorcycle everyday so she'll rest 'till I getter sussed out. There's just shy of 156,000 miles on her majesty. Thanks as always for the wisdom.
