slow to accelerate 200

I haven't owned my brick for very long. I love cruising in it but it takes soooo long to get up to speed. I know these bad boys are heavier than all get out and it's only a four banger but damn...I'm running a manual tranny on this guy as well. Is this my new reality or can I pep him up a bit with a tuneup or sometin'? It's a '90 wagon with a new clutch and the car is in decent condition. I not looking for a roadster and I probably shouldn't complain but dangnabbit...
