745 90' Wagon shifting problems - please help

I found the issue which might relate to my car's problem:
"..Shifter Detent Button Pops Up. [Query] The button on my shift automatic shift lever popped up yesterday. This won't allow the lever to be moved into park..."

Interestingly, the shifter button was up already for few months so that I could
actually pool out that pin with the knob at the top, and shifting without actually pressing the knob!

But all that time, I could shift to any position including P...
