Auto shift assembly - are 740 and 940 interchangeable? 700 1990

Dear Brickboarders,

the auto shifting in my '90 745 Turbo wagon is in a bad shape - either transmission mount or a linkage is worn.. It will not shift to "P". I do not know the details as I have not looked inside the car yet.

My friend says he can get a shift kit from a junkyard Volvo 940. Will that be intechangeable with my 745 parts?

(...may be that's missleading but I heard that 940 and 740 mainly differ in trim)
