air conditioning switch stays on 200

Yesterday I noticed the air conditioning was on and felt pretty good. I know the PO had it fixed with a new compressor and all. I looked to see if the knob had turned and it was off. I pryed open the little thing next to it and looked at the wiring. On the side there is a little metal square that can be pushing away from the opening and that would turn off the air conditioner. It would only run when the engine was running. Any ideas of a quick fix. I assume that something broke off and a new switch is needed. Thanks.
