Bad luck - head job imminent S90-V90 1996

My poor dear 965... Yesterday as I was driving along 30mph, I head a sudden fwap, fwap, fwap and the car died. After I coasted into a parking lot, I attempted to restart and the engine would not turn over. The car was towed to my mechanic and he found that the serpentine accessory belt was unraveling, had wrapped around the crankshaft, gotten into the timing belt path and threw the timing off. There is now no compression...
How it happened I don't know. The belt was new, no alignment issues with the pulleys. I'm going to blame it on the tensioner for now.
Anyway, the head is toast and needs to be rebuilt. Does anyone have an idea what the parts and labor will be? My mechanic is out for the next two days for a death in the family and I just want to know how many banks I need to rob.
John
