What is a MAF Signla?

Inside your air box there is a thermostat that controls a flapper that alows air flow from the flexable line attached to the exhaust manifold at startup for quicker warm up and lower emmissions. when the engine warms up the thermostat is supposed to close the flapper and only allow cold air in. after a while these thermostats give out and allow hot air all the time. this will quickly burn out the fine element in the amm.

The thermostat needs to be checked /replaced regularly, or just disconnect the flexable hose and tape off the inlet for it with duct tape and remove the flapper ( keep the pieces handy if you have inspections in your area, they will be required to pas visual inspection )
