GLE 16volvo firm brake pedal 700 1989

Car has been sittin for 3-4 weeks. Recently drove the car and noticed a stiff brake pedal. Upon stopping, I notice the rear brakes were extremely hot. Pulled the wheels and inspected the pads. Rear pads were ~ 3mm-5mm; therefore I replaced the rear pads, but the stiff pedal stiff exists. Rear brakes are ATE, 40mm piston and the emergency brake works fine and the shoes are good. What else? Thanks
