Next Subject: Brake Drums, Bearings, Races? 444-544

Thanks for the responses to my brake cylinder question. As I put the drum back on, I found that, even if I tighten the wheel nut to the point of binding the drum, I still get a tiny bit of lateral movement. When I back the nut off one hex to get the drum to spin freely, I can rock the drum about 1/8" (maybe a little less). Stub axle looks fine and the bearings are a nice tight fit around it. The bearings themselve show no sign of wear or damage. The drum spins smoothly and quietly. When I have the castle nut in place it is well inward of the cotterpin hole and I have to bend the loopy end of the cotter pin way in to get it to engage the castle nut. What am I dealing with here, just general, even wear on the bearings or the races in the hub?
