Tranny filter question S90-V90

I decided to pull the pan on my 960 and do a clean up and just look around-240k miles now. Will clean the screen and put a new gasket back in place of the goo Volvo used. Question is-does the tranny check tube come off , or do I just remove it with the pan itself? I saw on the side of the tranny housing where the tube was bolted. Just figure it comes off with the pan and want to make sure before going in.
