Changing the intake manifold gasket 700

I have a leaking intake manifold gasket (confirmed by the mechanic when I brought it in for inspection) and so I've been thinking of changing the intake gasket myself. Is this a hard job to do myself? Or would I be better off bringing it in to a mechanic?

Also...could a leaking intake gasket cause my bad mileage? I'm doing somewhere between 15 and 20 mpg in my 760 Turbo.

Thanks!

Fred
