Ignition hassle: Vive la resistance 140-160 1973

I think I may have a glimmer of why my Pertronix set-up isn't taking on my SU-equipped 145.

Symptoms: The car had been fine with my good old, craptastic points and condensor. With the Pertronix unit installed, the car ran, albeit poorly, at 25 btdc. The spark seemed weak and the amp light stayed on.

I have a Bosch blue coil at the moment, which I believe has an internal ballast resistor. Pertronix says it needs 3.0 ohms of resistance. Can anyone say whether the Bosch blue unit provides enough?

Merci en avance,
